Mbank and Air Arabia have agreed to work together as the Middle East and North Africa’s biggest low-cost airline. This partnership will allow passengers to use AE Coin to pay for flights through the AEC Wallet App. As a result, Air Arabia becomes the only airline in the region to allow payments in stablecoins, offering a secure, fast, and seamless travel payment experience.

UAE’s First Stablecoin for Seamless Travel Payments

AE Coin is the first stablecoin in the UAE that is supported by the AED. Stable prices and low costs result from the fact that it matches the UAE Dirham 1:1. Air Arabia customers can pay for flights with AE Coin when completing a booking on the company’s website. This option aligns perfectly with the UAE’s commitment to embracing new technology and building a modern digital economy.

Adel Al Ali, CEO of Air Arabia, pointed out that the decision is proof of the airline’s drive to provide cutting-edge digital services. He added that the merger would offer customers a smooth experience and flexible options for scheduling flights.

The newly introduced payment option through AEC Wallet reflects our ongoing efforts to adopt smart solutions.

The CEO of Mbank, Mohammed Wassim Khayata, also expressed his view and pointed out that the collaboration with Air Arabia enables Mbank to give customers a safe and affordable way to pay online. The CEO insisted that the airline’s great reputation and extensive customer base make it an ideal partner for Mbank’s innovative digital payment system.

Further, Ramez Rafeek, General Manager of AED Stablecoin, underlined the importance of the partnership, pointing out that by including AE Coin in Air Arabia’s system, it had simplified payments for travellers. Rafeek further pointed out that this decision would start a trend in using digital currency in the region’s travel sector.
