Aptos Foundation, the crypto organization behind layer 1 proof of stake blockchain Aptos, has announced that it will host a global hackathon in Singapore between September 11-13, 2023. The three day event will see participants design, code, and demo their web3 ideas with other builders in the crypto community and network with industry leaders.
According to Aptos’ official website, the hackathon will cover several hack tracks including non-fungible tokens (NFT), decentralized finance (DeFi), infrastructure, GameFi, payments, and tooling among several others. Participants can win as much as $30,000 in every hack track, with awards paid out at the end of the event.
The hackathon is aimed at attracting individuals and teams that are interested in Aptos or building on the network. In addition to the cash prizes, the Aptos Foundation will also fund the hackathon winner’s crypto project to support its development. Furthermore, teams that perform well would receive specialized support from the Aptos team to grow their projects on the network.
The performance of participants will be judged on five key criteria. These will include the utilization of the Aptos blockchain (30%), degree of innovation(20%), technical merit (20%), project completeness (20%), and future potential (10%). The last date to apply for the hackathon is September 4, 2023. Apart from competitions, the hackathon will feature programming around Move on Aptos, presentations from the network’s partners, interactions with core Aptos engineers, etc.
Awards to winning participants will be provided in a mix of US Dollars and Aptos’ native token APT. At the time of writing, APT was trading at $7.11, up more than 22% over the past week. The token had a daily trading volume of $1.03 million and a market capitalization of $125 million.
