Ark Invest Buys $9.4M in eToro Shares, Sells $7.9M Bitcoin ETF
  • Ark Invest adds $9.4M in eToro shares to its fintech ETF following the company’s Nasdaq debut.
  • Despite selling $7.9M of ARKB, Ark maintains a strong position in its Bitcoin ETF holdings.
  • Solana ETFs receive $7.6M investment from Ark, continuing its crypto diversification efforts.

Ark Invest acquired 140,000 eToro shares worth $9.4 million for its fintech-focused ETF (ARKF) on Wednesday. eToro made its Nasdaq debut the same day under the ETOR ticker, jumping 29% to close at $67.

In addition to its eToro buyout, Ark made some adjustments in its spot Bitcoin ETF (ARKB). The company sold $7.9 million of ARKB shares from both its ARKF and ARKW funds. Despite the sale, ARKB remains one of the top holdings in both funds. It still accounts for 9.5% (worth about $165 million) of ARKW and 6.1% (around $62 million) of ARKF.

Ark’s Investment Strategy

Ark Invest has been known to invest in new listings, including picking up 750,000 Coinbase shares when the company went public in April 2021. Ark’s policy limits any single investment to no more than 10% of a fund’s total value. If eToro shares rise sharply compared to the rest of the portfolio, Ark will rebalance its holdings to stay within that cap.

ARKW is Ark’s top fund by value, and eToro sits in its 33rd position out of 35 with an opening stake of just 0.93%. Shopify makes up about 9.9% of the fund, followed by Coinbase at 9.7%. The small beginning stake in eToro from Ark shows them being cautiously hopeful about the company’s growth in the fintech and crypto markets.

Ark Bitcoin ETF (ARKB) Hits $4.9B AUM Fueled by Consistent Bitcoin Inflows

The Ark’s spot Bitcoin ETF experienced net inflows of $5.2 million on Wednesday. More than $2.7 billion in inflows have been gathered by ARKB since February 12, 2024. It is now responsible for $4.9 billion in assets, showing how much interest people have in Bitcoin.

In addition, Ark invested in 3IQ’s Solana staking ETF, in addition to eToro. The firm added $7.6 million in Solana ETFs to both ARKF and ARKW. As a result, Ark now has a total investment in Solana of $20.9 million. The company’s bet on Solana points toward its attempts to diversify crypto investments even when markets are volatile.
