The average purchase price of this reserve averages $66,357 per Bitcoin. Despite this overall average, Strategy is currently facing a paper loss on its most recent acquisitions. 

This situation raises questions about its strategy and the future outlook of its Bitcoin holdings.

$3 Billion Paper Loss on Bitcoin Buys Since November 2024

Since November 2024, Strategy has been expanding its Bitcoin holdings aggressively. The company added 246,876 BTC at an average price of $94,035 per coin. This acquisition spree cost the company $23.2 billion. 

However, Bitcoin’s inherent price volatility has meant these newly purchased assets have decreased in value. They are currently worth $20.2 billion. This value decrease results in a paper loss of around $3 billion.

The most intensive purchases occurred between November 18 and November 24, 2024. During this week, Strategy acquired 55,500 BTC at an average price of $97,862 per coin. This move further increased the company’s total Bitcoin reserves to 386,700 BTC.

Strategy’s Unwavering Bet on Bitcoin Despite Market Swings

Strategy’s Bitcoin acquisitions have seen ups and downs. Average prices have fluctuated over time. Notably, the company’s largest acquisition occurred between February 18 and 23, 2025. In this single week, it added 20,356 BTC at an average price of $97,514.

Despite the recent downturn in Bitcoin’s market value, Strategy has continued to add to its reserves. The company’s Bitcoin holdings are still growing. This ongoing accumulation reflects its long-term cryptocurrency strategy.

$2 Billion Funding Boost Fuels Further Bitcoin Acquisitions

Adding to its acquisition power, Strategy just completed a $2 billion convertible notes offering.

This infusion will further strengthen its financial position. This new funding allowed the company to add 20,356 BTC to its holdings for approximately $1.99 billion. This purchase further bolstered the company’s overall acquisition in 2025, generating a 6.9% BTC yield year-to-date.

As of February 23, 2025, Strategy has accumulated 499,096 BTC. These holdings were acquired for around $33.1 billion at an average price of $66,357 per Bitcoin. Even with the acquisition slowdown in the past few weeks, the company remains one of the most significant corporate holders of Bitcoin.
