- Bitget and BlockSec launch the UEX Security Standard for next-gen exchange protection.
- The framework sets five benchmarks for multi-asset risk, data, and infrastructure security.
- UEX emphasizes transparency, real-time monitoring, and system-level resilience across markets.
Bitget has partnered with blockchain security firm BlockSec to introduce the UEX Security Standard. This new framework seeks to raise the bar for security across next-generation trading platforms.
The initiative was unveiled through a joint research report titled “The UEX Security Standard: From Proof to Protection,” which outlines how exchanges operating across crypto, tokenized assets, and traditional markets can secure unified trading environments at scale.
Universal Exchanges Bring New Security Risks
As trading platforms evolve into Universal Exchanges (UEX), a term first introduced by Bitget CEO Gracy Chen, security challenges are becoming more complex. Unlike traditional crypto exchanges, UEX platforms combine multiple asset classes within a single account system, often sharing margin, settlement, and permission layers.
This structure increases efficiency, but it also means that failures at the account, data, or access level can cascade across multiple products and markets. According to the report, legacy security models focused on isolated assets are no longer sufficient.
Five Benchmarks for Next-Generation Exchange Security
The UEX Security Standard introduces five core benchmarks aimed at building system-level resilience:
- Verifiable solvency to ensure transparent asset backing
- Multi-asset risk isolation to prevent cross-market contagion
- Data security and privacy protection across unified accounts
- AI-driven dynamic monitoring for real-time threat detection
- Resilient application and infrastructure defense to withstand attacks and failures
Together, these benchmarks aim to ensure risks are contained, system integrity is verifiable, and trust can scale alongside platform complexity.
Bitget’s Existing Safeguards Form the Foundation
The framework is grounded in security measures already implemented by Bitget, including regular Proof of Reservesreporting and a dedicated Protection Fund.
These safeguards are strengthened through collaboration with BlockSec, covering real-time monitoring, offensive security testing, incident response readiness, and compliance-grade controls such as AML screening and fund tracing.
“The transition to Universal Exchanges changes the nature of security risk,” said Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget. “Security can no longer focus on individual assets or reactive disclosure. It must operate at the system level.”
BlockSec: UEX Requires Unified Security Architecture
From BlockSec’s perspective, the report reflects a broader shift in how exchange security must be designed.
“UEX is not just a product upgrade it’s a structural shift,” said Yajin Zhou, Co-founder and CEO of BlockSec. “When crypto assets are combined with stocks, ETFs, and off-chain instruments, platforms must secure pricing, transparency, and dependencies to the same standard across all systems.”
Security as an Ongoing Discipline, Not a Feature
Beyond technical architecture, the report highlights the importance of transparency, emergency response readiness, and user education. It calls security an ongoing operating discipline rather than a static feature.
The UEX Security Standard is positioned as a reference framework for exchanges, regulators, and market participants navigating the next phase of multi-asset trading infrastructure.
