Prominent cryptocurrency exchange Bitget has announced the launch of its inaugural Blockchain4Her Awards. This initiative aims to honor women spearheading innovation and promote gender inclusivity within the blockchain sector. Nominations are open until August 30, and the winners will be revealed at the SheFi Summit in Singapore on September 17, 2024.
The Blockchain4Her Awards are designed to recognize the remarkable achievements of women in blockchain while fostering essential conversations about gender equality in the industry. This initiative is part of Bitget’s broader Blockchain4Her program. It was introduced in January with a substantial $10 million commitment to enhance diversity and inclusion in the blockchain space.
A recent study by Bitget highlighted that female-led blockchain startups received a mere 6% of total funding, underscoring the critical need for such initiatives.
The awards feature two distinct categories:
- Rising Female in Blockchain Award: Celebrating emerging women in Web3, focusing on their potential and early achievements. Three winners will receive scholarships to SheFi’s 8-week blockchain course, online speaking opportunities and mentorship within the Blockchain4Her community.
- Innovative Web3 Female Entrepreneur Award: Honors women founders driving transformative Web3 advancements. The winner will receive a trip to the SheFi Summit in Singapore, media interviews, priority access to the ForesightX Accelerator, and an invitation to mentor future leaders in the Blockchain4Her community.
A distinguished judging panel, entailing influential leaders and Blockchain4Her Ambassadors, will select the winners. The panel includes Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget; Yevheniia Broshevan, Co-founder and CBDO of Hacken; Cecilia Hsueh, Co-founder and CEO of Morph; Tess Hau, Founder of Tess Ventures, and Maggie Love, Founder of SheFi.
“The Blockchain4Her Awards are more than just an honor. It’s a platform to showcase the remarkable contributions women are making in Web3,” said Gracy Chen, Initiator of Blockchain4Her and CEO of Bitget. She added, “The blockchain industry holds immense potential, and it’s crucial that women have a strong voice and equal opportunities to contribute to its development.”
The awards provide a platform for participants to “Shine Bright Like a Woman,” celebrating their contributions to Web3. Winners will be awarded scholarships, a trip to Singapore to partake in the awards ceremony and various blockchain events, media speaking and interview opportunities, and mentorship to advance their careers in blockchain.
