Leading cryptocurrency exchange Bitget has entered a three-year partnership with UNICEF Luxembourg to advance digital and blockchain skills for young people around the world. The collaboration, announced on June 16, aims to equip 300,000 youth with essential digital competencies by 2025, with a strong focus on addressing gender disparities in technology.

The initiative will target adolescent girls, educators, and parents in eight regions: Armenia, Brazil, Cambodia, India, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Morocco, and South Africa.

Bitget Academy to Develop UNICEF’s First Blockchain Curriculum

A key component of the partnership is a commitment from Bitget’s educational arm, Bitget Academy. The Academy will support the development of UNICEF’s first interactive blockchain curriculum. The training module will combine both online and in-person learning and include video game creation as part of the learning experience for teachers and young people.

This content will be integrated into UNICEF’s existing digital literacy programs, which already serve hundreds of thousands of youth. Bitget’s support could also enable the initiative to expand into a ninth country.

Sandra Visscher, executive director of UNICEF Luxembourg, emphasized that the partnership reflects a shared belief in digital skills as a powerful driver of opportunity and inclusion.

Initiative Aims to Bridge the “Gender Digital Divide”

The collaboration is part of UNICEF’s broader Game Changers Coalition, led by the UNICEF Office of Innovation (OOI), which aims to reduce the gender gap in digital education.

Research shows that adolescent girls and young women in low- and middle-income countries lose out on $15 billion annually in economic opportunities relative to their male peers due to limited access to the Internet and digital skills.

The Game Changers Coalition, which includes the Global Video Game Coalition and Micron Foundation, hopes to reach 1.1 million girls by 2027.

The curriculum focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), preparing girls to become coders, designers, and leaders in digital spaces.

Blockchain4Her Initiative Expands Global Reach

Bitget’s involvement also extends through its Blockchain4Her initiative, a $10 million program launched to empower women in blockchain. The initiative has previously supported women through mentorship, funding, and global networking events.

Gracy Chen, CEO at Bitget, explained that Blockchain4Her started as a mission to empower hundreds of women and has since grown into a global movement educating thousands of girls.

Bitget also plans to introduce UNICEF to blockchain developers and Web3 innovators who may mentor and collaborate in the educational initiative.

Notably, Bitget has a history of working with UN agencies. During Ramadan 2025, the company partnered with several humanitarian organizations, including the UN World Food Programme and the UN Refugee Agency, to deliver meals and aid.
