Community Takes Center Stage in Cardano’s Governance Evolution

Cardano to Focus on Community in New Governance Model
  • Cardano has put its community at the center stage in its future upgrades.
  • The network will continue introducing community-friendly initiatives.
  • The community will also host global workshops to draft the Cardano Constitution.

Cardano (ADA), the blockchain platform founded by Charles Hoskinson, has placed its community at the forefront in its new decentralized governance model.

With the Voltaire upgrade and the launch of initiatives like Intersect, Cardano aims to give users a direct voice in the platform’s development and future direction. This move marks a significant step towards greater decentralization and community-led growth in the blockchain space.

And following the latest Shelly launch, nodes have transitioned to being run by the Cardano community, and a delegation and incentives scheme introduced to propel community adoption. According to the roadmap, the scheme was designed to improve the decentralization of the Cardano blockchain, encouraging users to delegate their stake to always-on, community-run nodes.

Additionally, Cardano asserts it is building the “most secure and decentralized governance model in the world,” adding:

“A model to give everybody a voice, and control over the future development of the platform and the applications and services that emerge from it.”

The Voltaire upgrade will be instrumental in this governance model and allow the community to participate in governance actions. The Voltaire era saw the debut of the member-based organization (MBO) Intersect as the blockchain deepened its focus on community members. Whereas through Intersect, Cardano provided funding opportunities to its community members, alongside other community-friendly initiatives.

Notably, community members will soon host a series of global workshops to draft the Cardano Constitution, determining the network’s structural framework, prioritizing the input of the Cardano community. A document from the blockchain states:

“As Cardano is a community-led ecosystem, it is imperative that its Constitution be enacted for the benefit and protection of the entire ecosystem.”

A post states that through its Goguen, Basho, and Voltaire phases, Cardano aims to move closer to a more decentralized structure and aims to demonstrate its commitment to the community while improving the decentralization features of the blockchain.
