Crypto asset adoption in real-world payments is gaining momentum as Crypto.com partners with KG Inicis to roll out crypto payment capabilities across South Korea’s merchant network.
The collaboration will integrate Crypto.com Pay into KG Inicis’ infrastructure, allowing foreign travelers to pay for a wide range of goods and services using digital assets. Notably, the move targets physical retail and online transactions, including Korea’s e-commerce sector.
Enabling Seamless Payments for Foreign Travelers
KG Inicis processes over 400 million transactions annually and commands a significant share of the country’s payment ecosystem. By plugging into this network, Crypto.com Pay is set to give international visitors a new way to spend digital assets without relying on traditional banking systems or currency exchanges.
This could make travel spending more seamless, especially for users already holding crypto, while expanding the practical use of digital assets beyond trading.
Faster Settlements and Lower Costs for Merchants
The integration is designed to benefit both merchants and customers. Businesses can receive payments instantly in either fiat or digital assets, improving cash flow and reducing settlement delays.
At the same time, the system aims to lower transaction costs and provide a faster alternative to conventional payment rails, making it an attractive option for merchants handling high transaction volumes.
Beyond payments, both companies are exploring additional collaborations, including co-marketing campaigns and new product development, subject to regulatory approval.
The partnership highlights a growing trend among crypto firms to focus on payment infrastructure as a key driver of adoption. With South Korea’s advanced digital commerce environment, the move positions both firms to help bridge digital assets with everyday economic activity.
KG Inicis Expands Commerce Infrastructure
Notably, KG Inicis is South Korea’s leading payment provider, serving about 190,000 merchants. Beyond basic payment services, it offers VAN, global payments, rental pay, and integrated authentication systems.
The company continues to focus on innovation, holding the most payment technology patents in the country while maintaining a reliable, zero-downtime infrastructure. Its integrated solutions aim to simplify transactions while maintaining strong security standards.
