Dogecoin (DOGE) is currently hot on Ripple’s (XRP) heels as the meme coin came very close to flipping the altcoin. This means that DOGE nearly overtook XRP in terms of market capitalization, which would place it higher on the rankings of the biggest cryptocurrencies in the market.
According to CoinMarketCap, DOGE is currently trading at $0.09683 after a 5.42% increase in price over the last 24 hours, and after reaching a high of $0.09766 over the same time period. The meme coin is also still in the green by more than 13% over the last seven days.
Although DOGE was able to strengthen against Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) by about 5.47% and 5.37% respectively, the meme coin’s 24 hour trading volume is in the red. It currently stands at $882007,260 after a more than 32% drop over the last day.
With its market cap of $12,860,963,970, DOGE is currently ranked as the 8th biggest cryptocurrency in terms of market capitalization. This places the meme coin right on the heels of XRP which is in the 7th position with its market cap of $20,158,695,609.
Things are looking a bit more red for XRP today as the crypto is currently trading hands at $0.4006 after a 1.18% drop in price over the last day. The altcoin is, however, still in the green by more than 2% over the last week.
Also in the red is XRP’s 24 hour trading volume which now stands at $534,443,972 after a more than 48% drop.
