- TRON and the Dominican government partner to release a national fan token.
- The Prime Minister says the fan token initiative aligns with vision 2020 strategy.
- TRON founders say not to be afraid to make mistakes and follow their pursuits.
According to a report from October 7 on the blockchain network TRON, the government of Dominica has agreed to release a national fan token to promote the Caribbean island’s culture and tourism.
According to the agreement, the island nation’s “selected national blockchain infrastructure” is the TRON protocol.
The native digital tokens of the TRON network were given “statutory status” according to an ordinance published on the same day, which means they are now permitted to be used as a form of payment in the nation.
In a statement, Dominica Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said that the fan token initiative is part of efforts to develop the island nation’s “distinctive culture and heritage” in line with its “vision 2020” strategy. Skerrit said that the goal is to increase Dominica’s “positivity” and attract more tourists.
The TRON network is a decentralized platform that allows users to create digital tokens. The project was founded in 2017 by Justin Sun and has since developed into one of the largest blockchain networks in the world.
Sun advised people not to be scared to make mistakes and to follow their pursuits. He went on to suggest that broad acceptance would happen as long as Web3 players uphold their dedication to online decentralization.
Furthermore, he added, “TRON may someday overtake Bitcoin as the main blockchain currency for cross-border payments.”
According to TRONWeekly, Sun recently showed interest in purchasing troubled investment bank Credit Suisse shares and bringing them to web3.
Moreover, the decree states that the government may take TRC20 stablecoins tied to the U.S. dollar, such as USDT and USDD, as payment for public services, including tax payments, and TRON governance tokens like TRX, BTT, and JST.
With the support, TRON will also launch Dominica Coin (DMC). This blockchain-based fan token will, in the words of the administration, “help enhance Dominica’s global renown for its natural heritage and tourism attractions.”
