Donald Trump’s Presidential campaign shot to the limelight by being the first camp to start accepting Bitcoin Lightning Network payments for campaign donations. The campaign has collaborated with Bitcoin Lightning Network infrastructure provider OpenNode to facilitate donations.

According to a recent report by Bitcoin Magazine, the Republican Presidential candidate’s promotion of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies shows his commitment to establishing the nation’s leadership in crypto.

A Bitcoin enthusiast, known by @nikcantmine on the X platform, shared Bitcoin Magazine’s post, drawing the community’s attention to Donald Trump’s Bitcoin advocacy. Reiterating Bitcoin Magazine’s article title, Nik stated, “Donald Trump is now the first US President to accept Bitcoin Lightning Payments.”

Bitcoin Magazine further explained OpenNode’s enthusiasm for joining Bitcoin’s entry into mainstream politics. An OpenNode representative stated:
