Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) becomes the first local government body to launch its ‘DEWAVerse’ platform on the metaverse. The metaverse platform will provide services to DEWA customers, employees, and members of society.
During DEWA’s Digital Transformation Steering Committee Meeting, the authorities reviewed seven projects using the metaverse technology. It includes a customer service center, which will enable consumers to communicate with agents to resolve queries and complete transactions in the metaverse.
Concurrently, the other features of the metaverse platform include DEWA Workplace and DEWA Future Lab. With DEWA Workplace, users will be able to travel around the DEWA buildings and hold meetings in the virtual world. Users of DEWA Future Lab can host brainstorming sessions, discuss issues, and come up with the best solutions utilizing innovative tools in a virtual environment.

Additionally, the metaverse platform is set to take over Gitex Global which will be open to the public from today (October 10) until Friday, October 14. The Gitex event will be introducing X-Verse, a metaverse platform built on Solana, to curate one of the world’s most immersive metaverse journeys that can help boost the UAE’s digital economy’s contribution to the GDP from 11.7% to over 20% in the next 10 years.
Telecommunication conglomerate e& and Dubai Airport Freezone will also be unfolding their metaverse strategies at the event and join the bandwagon with Emirates airline and DP World.
