- About 500 ETH ($1.37 million) was sent to the Ethereum burn address.
- An accompanying cryptic message accused Kuande Investment executives of misconduct.
- The same address previously made significant donations to WikiLeaks and a Ukraine donation address.
An Ethereum transaction caught the attention of the crypto community after 500 ETH worth approximately $1.37 million was permanently sent to the Ethereum burn address.
The transaction, which effectively removes the funds from circulation, included a cryptic message. Specifically, the cryptic note accused executives of Kuande Investment of misconduct, even bizarrely claiming the use of “brain-computer weapons” to control employees.
Sassal, an independent Ethereum educator, brought the event to light on X, amplifying curiosity about the motives behind these transactions.
Decoding the $1.37M Ethereum Burn Transaction
The transaction originated from address “0x1a1…..6813” and was directed to Ethereum’s burn address (0x000…0000), meaning the funds are irretrievably lost.
Despite the substantial amount transferred, the sender paid an insignificant transaction fee of just 0.00001797 ETH ($0.05). This is thanks to Ethereum’s new efficient gas structure.

Accompanying the transaction was a message in Chinese, which, when translated, reads:
“The CEOs of Kuande Investment: Feng Xin and Xu Yuzhi used brain-computer weapons to persecute all company employees and former employees, and even they themselves were controlled.”
The nature of these allegations remains unclear, but the dramatic method of publicizing them has fueled speculation within the community.

Further checks show that this was not the only major transaction from this wallet. The same address previously transferred 591 ETH to a known WikiLeaks donation address and 700 ETH to what appears to be a Ukraine donation address.

- Ukraine Donation Address: Etherscan Link
This pattern of large transactions suggests that the sender may be using Ethereum to make political or ideological statements.
Crypto Community Reacts to Bizarre Burn
The crypto community has been actively discussing this bizarre series of transactions. Some speculate that the sender is using Ethereum’s immutable ledger to make a statement, while others believe it could be a publicity stunt or an elaborate hoax.
“I feel like it’s saying something about the surveillance state in China,” crypto podcaster Laura Shin remarked.

“The fact that they burn a million dollars to tell this story sounds fictional,” X user Kira Sama said.
Ultimately, this incident highlights how blockchain technology can be leveraged for activism, as Ethereum provides an uncensorable and permanent way to disseminate messages.
