- Cardano stakepool operator Rick McCracken shares a list of 168 Cardano research members, highlighting the strength of the team.
- McCracken emphasizes Cardano’s high degree of decentralization.
- Charles Hoskinson comments on the list and addresses the members as “Ghost Researchers”.
A recent tweet from a prominent figure in the Cardano community, Rick McCracken, drew the community’s attention to the large number of researchers contributing to the blockchain: at least 168 by his count. Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson commented on the post “Ghost Researchers. Very spooky Latex!”, making a somewhat obscure in-joke playing the notion that Cardano is a “ghost chain”, and not relevant in the current blockchain landscape.
On August 21, McCracken, a Cardano stake pool operator (SPO), shared a post asserting that the Cardano blockchain and its research are not centered on a single entity, but the result of a collective effort of eminent researchers and analysts from around the world. The tweet read:
Cardano’s research stems from at least 168 people from various organizations and parts of the globe, and is not reliant on any one individual.
The Cardano SPO included a list of 168 names identified as researchers who have contributed to the blockchain, including leading figures like Hoskinson and Input Output Global’s co-founder Jeremy Wood. McCracken added that the list was self-compiled, and the true number of researchers contributing to Cardabno may be even greater.
McCracken’s tweet came following a tirade against non-bitcoin blockchains such as Cardano, Ethereum and Solana by Bitcoin maximalist TheVladCostea. The influencer derided other chains as “Bitcoin 2.0…ideas meant to help governments issue CBDCs & other types of Orwellian tracking”. He further insinuated that Cardano is dependent upon Charles Hoskinson, quipping ominously “what happens if Charles disappears tomorrow”. In response to TheVladCostea, the Cardano SPO presented an extensive list of the Cardano team, highlighting that the founder alone is not the sole strength of the platform.
