McDonald’s Singapore has announced the release of 2000 NFTs in the upcoming week. The digital collectibles are a collaboration between McDonald’s with the metaverse service provider Bandwagon Labs and the NFT artist The Hidden Walls.

The Grimace Digital Collectibles enables users to hold a virtual representation of Grimace, a friend of Ronald McDonald first introduced more than 50 years ago. As per the statement, the collection is to be made available for free, with ownership of a Digital Collectibles wallet being the only requirement. The wallet is available through the MetaMask app and Web3Auth. Each wallet can mint one NFT, which cannot be sold or transferred.

McDonald’s claims that each of the 2000 digital tokens will be a unique representation of the  traits and essence of Grimace. Drina Chee, McDonald’s Senior Director commented,

Grimace holds a special place in the hearts of many of our superfans, and this initiative allows us to evolve the character from nostalgic memories to love for all generations.

The fast-food giant has been active in showing its presence in the digital space. Recently, in June, McDonald launched McNuggets Land on the metaverse platform The Sandbox, as part of the 40th-anniversary celebration of Chicken McNuggets. In 2022, the company also indicated its interest in expanding its services to the “virtual food and beverage sector”, by opening shops in the Metaverse.

McDonald’s Grimace Digital Collectibles adds to the series of corporate NFT launches that the community has witnessed over the past few weeks. Recently, Coca-Cola released its first NFT collection, following Reddit’s launch of fourth-generation NFT collectibles.
