  • Meta and a Taiwan LGBT advocacy group plan to launch charity NFTs.
  • ACE Exchange will issue 304 NFTs called “Pride@NFTea” that feature drawings of bubble tea.
  • Taiwan became Asia’s first country to legalize same-sex marriage in May 2019.

According to a press release, the social networking company Meta will partner with a Taiwan LGBT advocacy organization to release NFT charity tokens in celebration of Taiwan Pride Day.

The event will be held on October 29, featuring the issuance of 304 NFTs called “Pride@NFTea” bearing the Taiwan signatory bubble tea drawings. The project will begin the minting process on Saturday, with each NFT valued at 0.05 ETH, equivalent to $75, according to the report.

Interestingly, the organization aims to utilize the profits from the NFT sale to manage its LGBT non-profit firm. Taiwan legalized same-sex unions in May 2019, marking the first nation in Asia to do so.

In July, Taiwanese singer-actress Annie Yi and her gay son Harrison Yu launched the NFT project “Theirsverse” in New York. In an interview, they stated that the project aims to create an LGBTQ community to support diversity and inclusion in the early stages of Web3.

Additionally, Theirsverse promises to provide young artists from all ethnic backgrounds and gender identities a forum to support equality. The Theirsverse website reports that 5,500 NFTs, which included nine sets made by 16 artists, including Yu, were sold out in three hours after the public auction period.

In other news, the High Court of Singapore recently ruled that non-fungible tokens are not merely information or code on the blockchain but serve as a form of property. Moreso, Lady Ape Club (LAC), the female counterpart of the popular Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) collection, officially announced an ape NFT airdrop based on an STRMNFT snapshot taken on October 15.
