California-based Meta (formerly Facebook) recently announced new artificial intelligence-powered experiences available across all of its applications and devices. The new suite of AI products includes stickers, conversational assistants, and other services. Meta is looking to develop AIs for businesses and creators over time.
According to a recent press release by Meta, the AI stickers rolled out on the Meta-owned social media platform Instagram will allow users to edit and even co-create with friends via new AI editing tools, restyle, and backdrop. Additionally, Meta will also be introducing an AI-enabled conversational assistant.
The assistant will be made available on Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, as well as Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses and Quest 3. Meta AI would provide users with real-time information and generate photorealistic images from your text prompts within seconds. However, these features of Meta AI will initially be introduced in beta.
Furthermore, Meta will also launch 28 additional AIs in beta, all with unique interests and personalities. The characters will be played by popular cultural icons and influencers including Snoop Dogg, Tom Brady, Naomi Osaka, Israel Adesanya, Mr. Beast, and Paris Hilton, among several others.
The beta was initially rolled out exclusively in the United States on September 27, 2023. In the coming weeks, the tech giant plans to add additional characters like Bear Grylls, Chloe Kim, and Josh Richards. Meta also unveiled AI Studio, a platform that supports the creation of its artificial intelligence.
“From small businesses looking to scale to large brands wanting to enhance communications, AIs can help businesses engage with their customers across our apps,” Meta stated.
As for its Web3 ambitions, Meta revealed that it was in the process of developing a sandbox that would be unveiled later this year. The sandbox would reportedly enable users to experiment with creating their own AI. The tech giant plans to bring the sandbox into the metaverse once its universe of AIs grows and evolves to a certain extent.
