Michael Saylor, the founder of MicroStrategy, has provided multiple reasons why buying Bitcoin is a good idea. According to Saylor, buying one Bitcoin gives the holder ownership of 1/21,000,000 of all the money in the network. He noted that could amount to the same portion of all the money in the world in the future.
In a video interview uploaded on YouTube, Saylor explained his reasons for considering Bitcoin as a worthy investment. Speaking to the Arnold brothers on the YouTube program Altcoin Daily, Saylor compared Bitcoin investment with saving money in other forms of assets and securities.
Saylor clarified that saving money in bonds and savings accounts doesn’t work as a comparable investment to Bitcoin. He explained the diminishing nature of money kept in savings accounts by identifying the various factors behind the devaluation of such savings. Saylor noted inflation and negative yield as the main factors that override any supposed interest earned on savings.
Using a practical example, Saylor explained that under the current economic conditions, returns on savings accounts are a negative real yield of 3.5%. With such returns, a million dollars saved over 100 years will be worth thirty thousand dollars. He believes such an investment is a losing proposition for the average person.
From his explanations, Saylor established that savings accounts and bonds don’t work as effective long-term investment vehicles. He also elaborated on the downside of investing in indexes and stocks while clarifying how investing in real estate is not for the middle class.
According to Saylor, Bitcoin is different and better than all other traditional investment vehicles because it represents pure digital and global property. It doesn’t have the dilutive element of a security, currency, credit instrument, or property. He believes Bitcoin beats all the others by offering apex global property.
