Moo Deng Meme Coin Rises After Thai Court Fines Zoo Intruder
  • A Thai court fines a man 10,000 baht, or about $300, for entering Moo Deng’s enclosure.
  • Zoo officials say Moo Deng is unharmed but slightly startled after the March incident.
  • MOODENG rises more than 6% in 24 hours as the news revives attention on the viral hippo.

A Thai court has fined a man 10,000 baht, or about $300, after he entered the enclosure of Moo Deng, the viral pygmy hippo at Khao Kheow Open Zoo. The ruling has revived attention around the animal and pushed the Solana-based MOODENG meme coin higher.

Zoo director Narongwit Chodchoy told AFP that the man was found guilty by a local court after his confession. He said Moo Deng was unharmed in the March incident, though the animal was “slightly startled.”

Thai Court Fines Moo Deng Intruder

The incident took place last month when a man entered Moo Deng’s enclosure, which she shares with her mother, at the zoo outside Bangkok. Local footage showed the man inside the pen while recording the animal with a tablet.

Narongwit told AFP the ruling sends a clear message. He said, “The decision shows that no one can violate animals’ rights, no matter whether they are in an enclosure or in the wild.”

The zoo has since stepped up patrols. Narongwit said staff will now prepare for human intrusions as well as animal escapes. He added, “We learned from this lesson and will not allow it to happen again — not to Moo Deng and not to other animals in the zoo.”

MOODENG Token Tracks Renewed Attention

The court decision has also spilled into crypto markets. The MOODENG meme coin, inspired by the viral pygmy hippo, rose more than 6% in the past 24 hours after the news circulated.

It also rose faster than the broader meme coin market over the same period, showing that the Moo Deng story gave it an extra boost. The token has often reacted sharply to mainstream coverage tied to Moo Deng, including earlier spikes linked to zoo events and exchange listings.

That pattern has held again here. The court ruling brought fresh speculative interest back to the token, even though the underlying event is unrelated to the project itself.

MOODENG Is Still Well Below Its Earlier Peak

MOODENG remains nearly 93% below that peak, even after the latest jump. The token is still trading far below the highs it reached during its viral surge in late 2024.

That leaves the latest move looking more like a short-term attention bounce than a full reversal. Moo Deng continues to attract public interest through memes, merchandise, and social media clips, and that visibility still gives the token periodic bursts of volume.

For now, the court ruling has boosted Moo Deng’s profile again, and the token is reacting in line with that renewed attention.
