Ozone Chain has drafted an approach to navigate its way around the limitations posed by QKD, an acronym for Quantum Key Distribution. Ozone Chain commits to do so by leveraging the principles of quantum mechanics. It generates and distributes cryptographic keys. However, some restrictions need to be dealt with to better secure the ecosystem.

QKD faces a total of three limitations. These are geographical range, infrastructural requirements, and scalability issues.

Geographical range pertains to restrictions to which the implementation of the technology remains effective. Per estimates, the best it can do is a few hundred kilometers. After that range, the technology gets fragile and hence, begins to degrade. Thereby, being unable to serve long-distance requirements. An ideal scenario is to extend security offerings no matter the geographical distance, or even borders for that matter.

Infrastructure requirements refer to housing specialized infrastructure that supports the functioning of technology. Requirements specific to QKD are quantum repeaters and dedicated fiber optic lines. A reason why they are so hard to develop or maintain is the high cost behind them. Next is the complexity of developing and deploying them. Some instances can further include a lack of expertise or skills in the workforce for effective deployment.

Suffice it to say, requirements have been articulated keeping the future in mind – making them imperative to be fulfilled.

Scalability issues see a global implementation of distributed networks. One way to understand this is by reviewing how blockchains take shape in any region they expand to. QKD lags because of the need for direct communication channels among parties.

Ozone Chain has identified these limitations and come up with an approach to addressing them as effectively as possible. The idea is also to make sure that the ecosystem does not have to compromise with robustness and global scalability.

Ozone Chain commits to leveraging the capabilities of PQC – Post-Quantum Cryptography. It is practically a cryptographic algorithm that has been designed to offer security against attacks initiated by quantum computers. PQC does not rely on the physical transmission of quantum states. Instead, they are designed to be resistant to quantum attacks while also efficiently implementing them using existing internet infrastructure.

Ozone Chain brings together the capabilities of QRNGs with PQC. QRNGs stand for Quantum Random Number Generators. They utilize atomic and subatomic phenomena to produce random numbers. This makes sure that security is robust and of high quality to strengthen the overall security of the system. Finally, the hybrid approach by Ozone Chain wherein it brings together QKD and PQC and its employment brings out secure channels and their establishment.

Notable benefits of this approach are global scalability, cost-effectiveness, future-proof security, and versatile implementation.

The approach has worked so far, for the token is gaining momentum despite the recent downfall. OZO is down by 3.46% in the last 24 hours but is still up by 1.67% in the last 7 days and 1.30% in the last 30 days. It is exchanging hands at $0.2307 at the time of writing this article. OZO is poised to mark an uptick of 228.12% in the next 30 days and reach the value of $0.760816.
