San Francisco-based fintech company Ripple celebrates its 10th anniversary today. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse sent out a tweet expressing his gratitude and happiness for Ripple.
According to the latest reports, the Ripple team is inching closer to victory in its ongoing battle with the SEC. As of Oct. 21, Ripple general counsel Stuart Alderoty announced on Twitter that the elusive documents are finally in their possession after “18 months and 6 court orders.” The SEC, however, has insisted that they remain confident.
While speaking further about the lawsuit, he added:
I’ve always felt good about our legal arguments, and I feel even better now. I always felt bad about the SEC’s tactics, and I feel even worse about them now.
Hours before the documents were released, Garlinghouse vented against SEC via Twitter as Ripple celebrated its 10th anniversary.
“The SEC’s pursuit of a policy objective isn’t about a faithful allegiance to the law’—it’s about power,” he tweeted. “There is no regard for those companies and people that this approach has harmed. We all should be outraged. The SEC has clearly forgotten that the government works for the people.”
The firm is in the limelight since the SEC filed a lawsuit against the firm in 2020, alleging that Ripple conducted illegal security offering through sales of XRP, the world’s sixth-biggest cryptocurrency.
Ripple is a decentralized money transfer network that serves the financial services of the crypto and blockchain industry. By market capitalization, Ripple’s native cryptocurrency, XRP, consistently ranks among the top 10 cryptocurrencies.
