- Ripple’s CTO alerted XRPL stakeholders of a new upgrade on the blockchain.
- XRPL validators and node operators must upgrade to the latest version by March 5, 2024.
- The new XRPL version adds a bug fix, builds improvements, and introduces critical amendments.
Ripple’s CTO, David Schwartz, alerted XRPL validators and node operators of a new upgrade on the blockchain. In a recent post on X, Schwartz told the stakeholders the time has come for them to upgrade to version 2.1.0.
The CTO’s alert followed a blog post on Ripple’s XRPL portal, announcing the introduction of the latest upgrade. According to the announcement, the new version adds a bug fix, builds improvements, and introduces the fixNFTokenReserve and fixInnerObjTemplate amendments.
Meanwhile, Ripple told the stakeholders that two new amendments are now open for voting according to the XRP Ledger’s procedures. The amendments will enable protocol changes following weeks of over 80% support from trusted validators.
Ripple requires all XRPL server operators to implement the 2.1.0 upgrade by March 5 to avoid disconnection from the network. However, the project noted that the exact time for implementing the protocol changes would depend on the voting decision of the decentralized network.
According to Ripple, the two introductions would add unique features to the XRPL. The fixNFTokenReserve adds a check to the NFTokenAcceptOffer transactor to see if the OwnerCount changed. In addition, the fixInnerObjTemplate adds an STObject constructor overload that includes an additional boolean argument to set the inner object template.
The XRPL 2.1.0 upgrade marks another additional improvement in the XRPL network in 2024. The XRPL 2.0.0 upgrade, Web3Auth, XRPL 2.0.1, and the Clio version 2.1.0 have all been improvements on the XRPL network in 2024.
These improvements reflect the network’s confidence amid non-technological challenges confronting the Ripple XRP project. Many users believe Ripple is preparing for a hopeful future where victory at the court would form the tailwind for a network ready for the work ahead.
