In a recent interview with the Digital Pound Foundation, a British central bank digital currency (CBDC) advocacy group, Ripple’s head of policy, Susan Friedman, discussed London’s potential to become a crypto hub. Friedman, who chairs the foundation’s board of directors, also shared that Ripple is focusing on encouraging the “development of responsible ecosystems for crypto assets.”

Friedman highlighted that Ripple is impressed by London regulators’ “overlooking approach” towards fintech and CBDCs. She also praised the Bank of England’s efforts with the Digital Pound initiative.

In her discussion, Friedman advocated for central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) as a natural progression from fiat, well-suited to the needs of the increasingly interconnected modern era. She emphasized their ability to provide comparable security and protections to conventional fiat currencies, while also effectively addressing unique domestic challenges.

CBDCs possess the potential to transform financial transactions, promote transparency, and bolster economic efficiency.
