Ripple’s senior advisor confirms that the community can brace for Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) announcements in the coming weeks. Ripple’s advisor, Antony Welfare’s quotes were shared by Twitter user @sentosumosaba, who wrote them in one of her recent tweets.
Ripple has several pilots in the progress for CBDCs, including the Royal Monetary Authority (RMA) of Bhutan and the Republic of Palau.
The quotes are from an interview with Welfare that aired on June 17, 2022. Welfare responded to the user’s tweet by thanking her for sharing the announcement. Welfare also asked her to follow him for more CBDC announcements in the next few weeks.
The news is definitely heartwarming for the XRP community. Although he didn’t give out an exact date, the XRP community can brace themselves for the announcements in the coming weeks.
Looking back at Welfare’s interview, he also spoke about Ripple, stating that Crypto is in their DNA. He also added that Ripple is focused on easing the lives of developers by building on and with the XRP Ledger.
Welfare also stated in the interview:
Ripple is continuing to innovate-for example, with NFTs and CBDCs-helping enterprises and developers prepare and build for a crypto-enabled world.
In other news, Ripple regains its 7th rank. Cardano recently dethroned XRP to rank as the seventh largest crypto by market cap. But it seems like it was short-lived as Ripple regained its throne.
XRP is currently trading at $0.317 with a 5.6% price drop in the last 24 hours. It is also down by 3% in the last 7 days.
