In a highly anticipated return to public discourse on digital assets, SEC Chairman Paul Atkins is set to speak at the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Crypto Task Force Roundtable on April 25. 2025. 

The event, themed “Know Your Custodian: Key Considerations for Crypto Custody,” marks Atkins’ first official commentary on crypto regulation since taking office. The roundtable represents a significant step in the SEC’s broader initiative to shape the evolving regulatory framework for digital assets.

At the event, the opening remarks will be delivered by Crypto Task Force Chief Richard Gabbert, followed by Commissioners Mark Uyeda, Caroline Crenshaw, and Hester Peirce. Their perspectives are expected to guide the day’s conversations, laying the foundation for deeper discussions on crypto custody and compliance.

Further, the segment will also feature speakers from Kraken, BitGo, Copper Technologies, and Etana Custody, each offering unique insights. Their experiences cover a wide spectrum from institutional-grade security to compliance strategy in rapidly changing environments.

Investment Advisers and Custody Obligations

Following a brief intermission, the discussion will shift towards investment advisers and investment company custody obligations. Panelists include legal experts such as Justin Browder, Susan Gault-Brown, and Mike Didiuk, who would bring extensive experience from both private practice and public service, having advised major funds and crypto projects alike.
