The Shiba Inu ecosystem is gearing up for its most significant architectural evolution to date, confirming plans to integrate Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) into its Layer-2 blockchain, Shibarium.
Lucie, Shiba Inu’s marketing lead, recently confirmed on X that privacy functionality using Zama’s Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) technology is officially coming to Shibarium.
She noted that this integration could enable fully private on-chain transactions and confidential smart contracts for Shibarium and its gas token, BONE, potentially rolling out before the end of Q2 2026.
This initiative builds on a strategic collaboration announced in February 2024, when Shiba Inu partnered with Zama.ai, a Paris-based open-source cryptography company. At the time, the Shiba Inu team described the partnership as a key move to strengthen the ecosystem’s privacy and security standards.
Zama’s Roadmap: Ethereum First, Shibarium Next
The announcement included a glimpse of Zama’s protocol roadmap, revealing that the public testnet is already operational on Ethereum’s Sepolia network. According to the roadmap, deployment on Ethereum’s mainnet, along with ZAMA’s token generation event (TGE), is expected before year-end.
After this launch, Zama plans to extend support to EVM-compatible networks like Shibarium in the first half of 2026. Later in the year, the company also intends to roll out its mainnet on Solana.

Benefits for Shiba Inu Shibarium Users and Developers
Zama’s FHE allows smart contracts to operate on encrypted data, producing encrypted outputs without ever decrypting the information. For Shibarium, this opens the door to entirely private applications, including confidential DeFi protocols, private wallet interactions, and secure on-chain transactions.
Beyond privacy, the upgrade aims to strengthen network security and enhance Shibarium’s position in the blockchain ecosystem. By implementing FHE natively, Shibarium could stand out among other meme coins and most EVM chains, which currently lack similar capabilities.
If successfully implemented, Shibarium would transition from a standard Layer-2 network into a rare, FHE-enabled privacy blockchain, a milestone representing one of the most significant technological achievements in Shiba Inu’s history.
Since its launch in August 2023, Shibarium has processed 1.56 billion transactions, generated 14.33 million blocks, and attracted more than 270 million interacting wallets.
