Snoop Dogg's New NFT Collection on Telegram Makes $12 Million in 30 Minutes
  • Snoop Dogg’s latest NFT collection sold out on Telegram in just 30 minutes, generating $12M.
  • The drop included nearly one million digital “Telegram Gifts” powered by the TON blockchain.
  • Blockchain minting and a secondary marketplace are set to launch in 21 days, spurring further excitement.

An NFT collection inspired by rapper and Web3 enthusiast Snoop Dogg’s signature style sold out in just 30 minutes on Telegram this Wednesday, pulling in an impressive $12 million in sales. The blockbuster launch signals a potential revival for the NFT space through its collaboration with the TON blockchain.

The drop, which included 996,000 animated “Telegram Gifts” ranging from vintage cars and digital dogs to marijuana-themed collectibles, is being hailed as a milestone moment for both Telegram’s growing NFT infrastructure and the broader Web3 creator economy.

With minting and a secondary market launch slated for 21 days from now, anticipation is already building for a new wave of trading activity on TON.

Telegram founder Pavel Durov shared the numbers on X, adding:

“Sales reached 12 million US dollars. In 21 days, blockchain minting and the secondary market will be officially launched, which will surely be very lively.”

The Secret Sauce: Celebrity Power Meets In-App Utility

This success comes as the broader NFT market has struggled. According to data from CryptoSlam, NFT sales volume has dropped 41% over the past month. The Snoop Dogg collection, however, bucked this trend, largely because these “Telegram Gifts” come with built-in utility.

The digital gifts are animated items that users can display on their Telegram profiles or convert into an in-app currency known as Stars. That utility, paired with Snoop Dogg’s immense cultural clout, appears to have resonated with both crypto-native users and his casual fanbase.

Social media reactions were swift and celebratory, with some users calling the collaboration “legendary” and speculating that this could mark the beginning of a new NFT narrative.

One prominent figure, Zenith, the NFT lead at TON, wrote that the overwhelming response could inspire other brands and IP holders to launch their own digital gifts through Telegram.

Snoop Dogg’s Deep Roots in Web3

Since declaring himself the pseudonymous NFT collector “Cozomo de’ Medici” in 2021, Snoop Dogg has rolled out projects that range from metaverse performances to live-streaming platforms.

In 2023, he introduced the Snoop Dogg Passport Series, giving fans behind-the-scenes access to his tours via NFTs. A year prior, he partnered with The Sandbox to release “Snoop Avatars” and dropped a 50,000-piece NFT collection accompanied by the single “A Hard Working Man.”
