Meanwhile, severe distress was caused when a $2.5 million Solana liquidation long contract in the Mango market was unable to process as the Solana network was down. The holder was neither able to add margin nor liquidate.
However, this is not the first time the Solana network is experiencing such a major outage. This is, in fact, their fourth one this year. The blockchain network has previously faced much criticism for multiple outages in January and May.
An hour after their first tweet, Solana Status tweeted a link to a document titled “Solana Mainnet-Beta Cluster Restart 1.” The document was directed toward mainnet beta validators, asking them to follow the cluster restart instructions.
Nevertheless, maximum validators couldn’t follow through with the restart instructions on account of the Solana network’s internal issues. As summarized by the Twitter account P2 Moo, most validators couldn’t continue beyond slot 153139220, which was a bad block distributed by a lead validator uncontactable at the time.
In addition, other validators tried resolving the issue by skilling the IPs without restarting. However, those attempts failed ultimately and Solana soon shared on Twitter that validators successfully restarted the Mainnet Beta. However, the client services continue to be restored over the next several hours.
