- Crypto journalist Tiffany Fong responds to a New York Post article about her interview with SBF.
- The thumbnail of the news article features Fong’s bikini-clad picture.
- Fong takes offense and asserts that she did not take the interview in a bikini.
Citizen journalist Tiffany Fong has responded to a scandalous New York Post exclusive on her interview with Sam Bankman-Fried. “Jesus fkn Christ,” says Fong while tagging the article. The news piece titled “Sam Bankman-Fried ‘surprisingly optimistic’ at meeting with sexy crypto influencer” seems to have irked the journalist not only for its inappropriate phrasing but also because the thumbnail features a Bikini-clad Fong.
Fong clarified to her readers that she did not take the controversial interview in a bikini. Responding to one user, she says, “I obviously was not wearing a bikini. @nypost decided to creep thru old pics on my IG pretty gross.”
The article in question seems to imply that Bankman-Fried agreed to be interviewed by Fong primarily because of her looks. According to some in the community, the authors of the write-up resorted to sensationalist tabloid language merely for clicks. Others argue that this is misogynistic reporting.
An excerpt from the news reads:
FTX bad boy Sam Bankman-Fried’s cushy house arrest was brightened up Tuesday by a visit from a sexy single crypto influencer who said he seemed “surprisingly optimistic” ahead of his trial on multiple fraud charges, The Post has learned.
The article also touches upon Fong’s recent visit to the White House and quotes her Instagram caption where she said she let the President smell her hair.
However, the New York Post is not the first to question Fong’s opportunity to interview Bankman-Fried. Earlier today, a user by the name of Timbo took to Twitter speculating that Fong had connections to SBF and had helped him take down Celsius.
The contentious post reads:
Tiffany was main leaker for Celcius before the crash. SBF is alleged to be behind celcius crash. Fast forward. Tiffany is the first to talk to SBF after FTX collapse.
Fong responded to this allegation by asking Timbo to state his conspiracy theory more clearly. However, from the comments underneath the post, it is clear that the crypto community does not seem to buy this far-fetched idea.
