- Emirates is launching crypto payments in 2026 through its partnership with Crypto.com.

The United Arab Emirates is cementing its role as a leader in crypto adoption with air travel emerging as one of the newest sectors to integrate crypto assets.
UAE travelers now have multiple ways to pay for flights using Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tether (USDT), and other cryptocurrencies. This was made possible through the partnership of Emirates Airlines’ with Crypto.com, and the blockchain-based booking platforms such as Travala.
Emirates Airlines’ Crypto Payments
Emirates, the country’s flagship carrier, has signed an agreement with Crypto.com to enable passengers to pay for flights and in-flight purchases using crypto assets. The rollout is scheduled for 2026.

It will initially support Bitcoin, Ethereum, Cronos (CRO), and major stablecoins such as USDT and USDC. Travelers will be able to use crypto for tickets, upgrades and even duty-free shopping onboard.
Air Arabia Using Dirham-Backed Stablecoin
Meanwhile, budget airline Air Arabia has taken a localized approach by accepting AE Coin, a stablecoin pegged to the UAE dirham. It simplifies crypto payments for residents familiar with AED and offers access to the airline’s vast Middle East, North Africa and Asia network.

Travala and Alternative Airlines
Beyond direct airline adoption, global booking platforms are also joining the trend. Travala, which is popular among UAE residents, supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, USDC, BNB, and its native AVA token for flights, hotels, and experiences worldwide.
Alternative Airlines allows bookings with over 650 carriers including Emirates and Etihad. At the same time, it supports a wide range of tokens such as XRP, Litecoin, Cardano and Dogecoin. Destinia, another global travel agency, accepts Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT for flights, hotels and rentals.
How Crypto Flight Payments Work
Airlines typically partner with third-party service providers to process crypto transactions. Payments are directly at checkout or via travel gift cards purchased with crypto.
A typical checkout process includes selecting the crypto payment option, connecting a digital wallet, confirming the transfer and receiving an e-ticket instantly. Platforms like Travala also integrate with Crypto.com Pay and Binance Pay.
UAE in Crypto Powered Travel
The UAE’s push for crypto asset adoption is part of its vision to attract tech-savvy tourists and digital nomads. With major airlines and travel platforms embracing crypto payments, travelers now enjoy flexible payment options and bypass traditional banking issues.
In the future, crypto-powered loyalty programs, blockchain-based visa processing and decentralized travel insurance could become a reality.
