- Vitalik Buterin commended Optimism for supporting Ethereum’s ecosystem development.
- Optimism recently adopted the ERC-7683 standardization protocol.
- Across thinks the development will enable lightning-fast USDC and ETH transfers.
Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, had a word of praise on Optimism’s efforts to standardize asset transfers across the Ethereum ecosystem.
Buterin expressed his enthusiasm on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting Optimism’s support for the standardization initiative and their work on “REMOTESTATICCALL.
Buterin’s comments came after an update from Optimism announcing that its Superchain Interop is expanding across the entire Ethereum network. This aligns with a previous post by Across, an interoperability protocol on Ethereum, which highlighted Optimism’s adoption of ERC-7683 and high-speed transfers across the Superchain as major advancements for the blockchain space.
Across sees the ERC-7683 cross-chain intent standardization as a key step towards a smoother, more unified Ethereum ecosystem. The interoperability protocol believes this standard will help solve fragmentation issues across Ethereum.
The Across team predicts that this development will accelerate Ethereum’s adoption by enabling rapid USDC and ETH transfers. They explained that Optimism’s update will work in tandem with Across’ existing intents-based bridging architecture in Superbridge and Brid.gg, resulting in high-speed transfers between L2s on the Superchain.
Across further noted that its native interoperability and intents-based systems will create a synergy within the Superchain ecosystem to enhance reduced user risk and provide a simplified user interface (UX). The innovation will extend interoperability across the Ethereum network and enable up to 10x reduction in filler costs.
Significantly, Across confirmed that intents-based systems and ERC-7683 are crucial to solving multi-chain fragmentation by enabling true blockchain interoperability and the unification of Ethereum. This aligns with Buterin’s vision for Ethereum’s future. Buterin believes the next development phase should involve standardizing chain-specific addresses, chain-specific ENS, and ERC-3668 light clients.
