  • Buterin’s latest ETH transaction happened in the early hours of today, November 1, 2023.

“Vitalik.eth”, the Ethereum wallet address belonging to Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum’s co-founder, was spotted transferring 100 ETH, worth $181,000, to the Coinbase crypto exchange. According to the renowned Chinese crypto reporter Colin Wu, the transaction happened in the early hours of today, November 1, 2023.

While posting the information on X (formerly Twitter), Wu noted that Buterin previously stated that he had not sold any ETH tokens for personal benefit since 2018. All he had done was donate ETH to charity, non-profit organizations, or other projects.

Buterin’s recent ETH transfer to Coinbase has raised curiosity among many users, potentially raising questions about whether the Ethereum CEO intends to sell part of his ETH holdings.

“Interesting to see Vitalik moving ETH, especially since he said he hadn’t sold ETH for personal benefit since 2018. Wonder what he is up to“, said one user.

Another user who responded to Wu’s post suspected that Buterin’s intention this time is not to donate to charity. According to the respondent, if the Ethereum founder wanted to donate, he could have transferred ETH within the blockchain, the same way he did with meme coins like SHIB in 2021.

There was no further information on Buterin’s intention for making the ETH transfer as of the time of writing, nor was there any report of further activity on the transferred ETH tokens. ETH’s price also continued in a sideways consolidation that started after it reached a local high of $1,865 on October 26, according to data from TradingView.

ETH traded for $1,808 at the time of writing as users await the next significant move for the flagship altcoin. Ethereum’s latest surge happened in the last two weeks when the price moved from $1,542 to $1,865, gaining 20% value in the process.
