  • Vitalik Buterin says he wishes that the EU would make it illegal to build iOS-only applications.
  • Buterin states that companies of a specific size must use a cross-platform dev framework.
  • The EU passed a law that will introduce a DMA forcing Apple to install iOS apps from other sources.

Vitalik Buterin, the founder of the second largest crypto Ethereum, noted on his Twitter handle stating how often he wishes that the European Union (EU) would make it illegal to build iOS-only applications for programs.

Furthermore, Buterin jots in his tweet that companies of a specific size must write a version of each central platform or use a cross-platform development framework.

In a sequence to the tweet, Buterin adds:

“Of course, the less libertarian side of me would also ban wearing suits, so maybe it’s good that libertarianism exists and has had the level of influence on me that it has. But if you’re an SV dev, please remember: friends don’t let friends build iOS-only apps.”

The crypto Twitter community joined in unison agreeing with Buterin. The founder of the Web3 application Genesis, Dan Scanlon, in agreement with Buterin, said that the government’s compelled use of any development framework to judge any software does not serve as a legitimate parameter. Rather, it can limit corporate entities by controlling massive-scale marketplaces.

For the uninitiated, the EU recently passed a law that will introduce a Digital Markets Act (DMA) forcing Apple to allow the installation of iOS apps from third-party sources. The new antitrust law states that controllers of large online platforms must allow the installation of software applications from third parties.

In other news, Buterin has also given his two cents on the recent FTX massacre. The ETH founder believes that the FTX fall was even greater than Mt. Gox and Terra LUNA’s crashes. However, he also showed concern by saying that the FTX founder, Sam Bankman-Fried deserves love and support in such times, adding “I hope he has friends and family that can give it to him.”
