On January 21, MTT Sports wrapped up its 16th weekly tournament, awarding the 16th Bitcoin (BTC) prize. This week, Taiwanese player “Yuri🐶” claimed the championship, taking home a prize of 0.35 BTC (approximately $35,000).
MTT Sports is on a mission to create a groundbreaking esports platform and propel the MTT project into the Olympics. Currently, the platform is running a series of 100 weekly tournaments, offering 1 BTC as the prize for each event. The most exciting part? Participation is completely free—players can compete without any financial investment.
In the overall BTC prize rankings, Taiwan has accumulated 3.951 BTC, placing second only to Thailand. Thai players have collectively won 4.955 BTC, with 146 players sharing the prize pool. Historically, players from Taiwan and Thailand have shown impressive dominance in the competition.
However, this week’s results indicate a shift in momentum. Only 9 Thai players made it into the prize pool, a 50% drop from last week. Similarly, Taiwan had only 2 players reaching the prize zone.
Meanwhile, Russia saw a surge in success, with 14 players earning prizes this week. Players from Moldova, the Czech Republic, Spain, Argentina, and Romania also started making their mark on the final stages of the tournament.
As the competition heats up, the excitement grows. So far, MTT Sports has awarded 16 BTC in total as of January 21, leaving 84 BTC—worth approximately $8.4 million—still to be claimed in future tournaments. The prize pool is real and tangible, awaiting players from around the globe to seize their share.
