Bitget has registered as a Financial Services Provider (FSP) on New Zealand’s Financial Service Providers Register (FSPR). The registration marks another step in the crypto exchange’s efforts to expand its regulated financial services infrastructure.
The registration allows Bitget to operate across several financial service categories. These include foreign currency exchange, domestic and international money transfers, client asset custody, portfolio and money management, and the execution of financial products and foreign exchange transactions on behalf of clients.
Bitget Joins New Zealand’s Financial Ombudsman Scheme
Alongside its FSPR registration, Bitget has joined the New Zealand Insurance and Financial Services Ombudsman (IFSO) Dispute Resolution Scheme.
The independent dispute resolution body gives eligible customers an external channel to raise and resolve complaints involving participating financial service providers. The move strengthens consumer protection measures available to Bitget users in New Zealand.
Registration Supports Broader Financial Services Plans
According to the company, the New Zealand registration is part of its broader strategy to build the operational and compliance infrastructure needed for an expanding range of financial products.
These products include traditional financial market instruments, foreign exchange services, and tokenized real-world assets (RWAs). The strategy reflects Bitget’s goal of bringing digital assets and conventional financial products together on a single platform.
Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget, said financial platforms need compliance frameworks that can support a wider mix of assets and services. She added that the New Zealand registration strengthens the company’s international financial services framework as it continues connecting digital assets with established financial markets.
Universal Exchange Strategy
Bitget said its Universal Exchange (UEX) model is designed to bring cryptocurrencies, tokenized stocks, commodities, foreign exchange, and other financial products into a single trading ecosystem.
The company said it will continue expanding its services through registered entities and qualified partners across multiple jurisdictions. It also plans to strengthen its global regulatory presence as it broadens its financial services offering.
