- ADA pulled back 1.85% to $0.1859 on August 3 after its ascending triangle breakout, with the measured move target sitting at $0.2243
- Derivatives volume surged 49.92% to $799.59M as shorts absorbed $2.01M of the $2.45M in 24 hour liquidations following the breakout
- Intersect’s weekly update confirmed the Constitutional Committee election results and a new parameter update cutting minPoolCost from 170 ADA to 75 ADA
Cardano trades at $0.1859 on August 3, down 1.85% intraday, giving back part of the move that followed its breakout from a weeks-long ascending triangle. The pullback comes as Cardano’s governance side stays active, with a Constitutional Committee election result now published and a new parameter change open for stake pool and DRep voting.
ADA Pulls Back After Clearing the Triangle, EMA100 Still the Line in the Sand

The daily chart shows ADA breaking above a long ascending triangle that had been compressing since the June lows near $0.14, with the breakout candle pushing price up toward the 100 day EMA at $0.1966 before sellers stepped back in. Today’s session opened at $0.1893, printed a high of $0.1895, and slid to a low of $0.1846 before closing at $0.1859, a 1.85% decline on the day.
The 20 day EMA at $0.1704 and 50 day EMA at $0.1744 both sit below current price and remain the first support zone if the pullback extends. The Parabolic SAR at $0.1553 lines up closely with the triangle’s apex, keeping the broader structure intact as long as that level holds. Above price, the measured move projected from the triangle’s breakout points to a target near $0.2243, a 40.92% move from the SAR level, with the 100 day EMA at $0.1966 as the first real test on the way there. The 200 day EMA at $0.2601 remains the longer term ceiling.

Derivatives Show Fresh Positioning, But Shorts Are Taking the Pain

Volume jumped 49.92% to $799.59M while open interest rose 7.63% to $501.70M. When both climb together it signals fresh money entering the market rather than existing traders simply switching sides, which is the more constructive read heading into a potential breakout continuation.
The overall long/short ratio of 1.0084 is nearly balanced, but Binance’s top trader accounts lean long at 2.0694, meaning the larger, more informed players are positioned for upside. Liquidations over 24 hours came in at $2.45M, with shorts taking $2.01M of that pain against just $445.41K for longs. That gap reflects traders who bet against the triangle breakout getting forced out of their positions as price pushed higher, which can itself accelerate upside moves by removing selling pressure from the market.
| Metric | Value | Interpretation |
| 24h Volume | $799.59M (+49.92%) | Fresh money entering |
| Open Interest | $501.70M (+7.63%) | New directional bets added |
| Long/Short Ratio (24h) | 1.0084 | Broadly balanced |
| Top Trader L/S (Accounts) | 2.0694 | Large accounts skew long |
| Top Trader L/S (Positions) | 0.9062 | Size-weighted, closer to neutral |
| 24h Liquidations | $2.45M | Shorts took the larger share |
Cardano Governance Moves Into the Dijkstra Era
Cardano’s development focus has shifted to the Dijkstra era following the van Rossem upgrade. The first phase brings Nested Transactions and Linear Leios to mainnet by end of 2026, with the next scaling upgrade Peras to follow after.
Three governance items are also moving in parallel. Intersect submitted a parameter update to cut the minimum fixed fee that stake pools charge delegators from 170 ADA to 75 ADA, while also raising Plutus smart contract memory limits by 25%.
The 2026 Constitutional Committee election concluded with Philip DiSarro, Leandros BSP, Marek Mahut, and Cardano Curia voted in by 38 DReps to fill seats expiring in September. Moreover, Intersect launched the Constitutional Amendment Portal at cap.intersectmbo.org, where any ADA holder can now formally propose changes to Cardano’s governing constitution.
| Governance Item | Detail | Status |
| Dijkstra Phase 1 | Nested Transactions and Linear Leios, mainnet target end of 2026 | Planning finalized |
| Parameter Update | minPoolCost to 75 ADA, Plutus memory limits up 25% | Open for DRep and SPO voting |
| Constitutional Committee | DiSarro, Leandros BSP, Mahut, Cardano Curia elected | Appointment action pending ratification |
| Hard Fork Naming | “von Bergen” action live through Aug 22 | Community vote ongoing |
ADA Price Prediction: Upside and Downside Targets
Bullish Case, Target: $0.2243 (Measured Move Projection)
ADA holds the 20 day EMA at $0.1704 on any further pullback and stabilizes above the Parabolic SAR at $0.1553, keeping the triangle breakout structurally intact. Renewed short covering, consistent with today’s liquidation data, pushes price back through the session high at $0.1895 and toward the 100 day EMA at $0.1966. A confirmed close above that level opens the path to the measured move target near $0.2243, with governance catalysts like the Parameter Update vote and Dijkstra roadmap progress adding a fundamental tailwind.
Bearish Case, Risk Level: $0.1553 (Parabolic SAR / Triangle Apex)
The pullback extends and ADA loses the 50 day EMA at $0.1744, invalidating the near term bounce. Continued long liquidations and fading volume push price back toward the 20 day EMA at $0.1704 and, if that fails, down to the Parabolic SAR at $0.1553, where the triangle’s apex would need to hold to avoid confirming a failed breakout back into the prior range.
