Coinbase Global Inc. has announced the launch of a Global Advisory Council, which will help the American crypto giant navigate the corporate and bureaucratic challenges that revolve around crypto regulation in the United States. The crypto exchange has tapped several former lawmakers to be a part of the new council.

According to a blog post shared by Coinbase recently, the new Global Advisory Council is aimed at guiding the firm through the evolving landscape of the crypto industry and strengthening relationships with strategic stakeholders globally. In addition to politicians, the council will also feature top industry leaders. Coinbase’s CEO Brian Armstrong and Chief Strategy Officer Faryar Shirzad took to Twitter recently to welcome the first members of the newly formed council.

The first members of Coinbase’s Global Advisory Council will include former US Senator Pat Toomey, former US Congressman Tim Ryan, and former US Congressman Sean Maloney. The former US lawmakers will be joined by top political strategist John Anzalone and Haun Ventures’ Chief Strategy Officer Chris Lehane.

The Global Advisory Council will provide insights and strategic expertise to Coinbase’s senior management as they make their way through the regulatory hurdles in pursuit of global expansion and crypto access for all. In the coming weeks, Coinbase will add leaders from the United States and abroad to bring additional perspectives to the Council.

“The Advisory Council will strengthen our efforts with stakeholders across the community as we seek to responsibly deploy crypto to help make the financial system more open, accessible, and fair,” Coinbase stated.

In addition to guiding Coinbase’s leadership team, the new council will also work with the existing Coinbase Asset Management Academic and Regulatory Advisory Council, which features former SEC Chairman Jay Clayton and Former CIA General Counsel Courtney Elwood, among several others.
