- Crypto ranks as the most snoozed topic as users filter content on X platform feeds.
- X adds Custom Timelines with Grok AI, enabling personalized topic feeds.
- Snooze feature rolls out to iOS and web, expanding Premium user controls.
Cryptocurrency is the most muted topic on X, according to data shared April 30. The ranking follows the rollout of new feed controls for Premium users, which include custom timelines and a topic snooze feature.
Crypto Tops Muted Topics List
Cryptocurrency ranks first among the most snoozed topics on X, based on data released by product lead Nikita Beir. The list reflects early user behavior following the launch of new feed personalization tools.
Other topics in the top 10 include politics, the Iran conflict, sports, and business and finance. Gaming, artificial intelligence, videos, science and technology, and entertainment and arts also appear on the list. These categories represent some of the most discussed areas on the platform.
The ranking indicates that users are actively choosing to limit exposure to certain types of content, especially those with high posting volume or constant updates.
New Snooze Feature Expands User Control
The muted topics data comes from a newly introduced “snooze” feature. This tool allows users to temporarily hide content related to selected topics from their “For You” feed.
The feature seeks to give users more control over what they see. Instead of relying solely on algorithmic recommendations, users can now directly filter out content they find repetitive or less relevant.
The snooze tool is currently available to Premium subscribers on iOS and web platforms. The company said the rollout is ongoing, with more users expected to gain access over time.
Custom Timelines Introduced
Alongside the snooze tool, X has introduced a “Custom Timelines” feature. This allows users to pin specific topics to their home feed and view a dedicated stream of related posts.
The feature supports more than 75 topics. Users can switch between timelines to focus on different interests without mixing all content into one feed.
X said the system is powered by its AI tool, Grok. The AI analyzes posts and combines them with user engagement data to personalize each timeline. As users interact more with a topic, the feed adjusts to reflect those preferences.
The introduction of these tools marks a change in how X structures content delivery. The platform is moving beyond a single, generalized feed toward a more customizable experience.
Users can now both highlight preferred topics and limit unwanted ones. This dual approach gives greater control over content consumption.
Implications for the Crypto Sector
Crypto being the most “snoozed” topic on X suggests user fatigue from high volumes of price updates and trading content, rather than declining interest. Users appear to be becoming more selective, checking crypto on their own terms.
This shift could limit organic reach for creators and firms, making engagement more dependent on intentional audience interest.
Crypto Visibility Issues on X
Meanwhile, the latest update adds to ongoing concerns about the low visibility of crypto content by community figures.
In January, Nikita Bier argued that crypto visibility is being diluted by repetitive, low-effort posts like “gm,” which quickly exhaust users’ limited attention in their feeds. In effect, such posts crowd out meaningful updates.
He argued that genuine, high-quality content still gets a boost, while spam and bot activity distort engagement in the space.
This comes amid broader concerns in the crypto community about reduced reach. Analysts are pointing to a surge in bot activity and possible algorithmic suppression following recent updates seeking to curb spam.
Meanwhile, Bier also noted that X introduced features such as Smart Cashtags to improve crypto content discovery and real-time asset tracking.
