Crypto-focused political group Fairshake is committing $30 million to oppose former Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown’s bid to return to the Senate, renewing its campaign against a longtime critic of the industry.

Fairshake spent about $40 million opposing Brown in 2024, when Republican Bernie Moreno defeated him. The group has again focused on Brown because of his record on cryptocurrency, making the Ohio Senate race a major target for crypto-related political spending.

Fairshake Targets Brown Again

Fairshake spokesman Geoff Vetter confirmed the $30 million commitment Monday and said the group has more than $90 million available for election activity in 2026. The new spending adds to a heavily financed Ohio race between Brown and Republican Sen. Jon Husted.

Brown’s campaign criticized Fairshake’s involvement, saying outside groups are spending heavily to support Husted. Campaign manager Patrick Eisenhauer said, “Jon Husted’s for sale and the billionaires and corporations pouring millions into this race know it.”

Crypto Expands Election Spending

Fairshake has also committed about $12 million to support Republican Barry Moore in Alabama and more than $10 million against Democrat Juliana Stratton in Illinois.

The group has supported candidates from both parties, while directing substantial spending toward Republican candidates and against some Democrats. Its renewed campaign against Brown highlights the growing role of crypto-focused political groups in the 2026 elections.
