Telegram t.me Domain Suspension Disrupts Access to TON Wallet

Telegram plans to deepen its role in digital assets by introducing a native non-custodial Gram wallet to users across its messaging platform this year. The initiative aims to simplify crypto payments and transfers for Telegram’s global audience, which now exceeds one billion users.

Besides expanding blockchain accessibility, the rollout could reduce barriers that often discourage mainstream users from managing digital assets. The company also intends to support instant, zero-fee transactions, making everyday crypto transfers faster and more convenient. Consequently, the move could strengthen Telegram’s position as one of the largest consumer platforms embracing decentralized financial tools.

Gram Wallet to Reach a Global Audience

Telegram founder Pavel Durov confirmed that the company will begin rolling out the Gram wallet during the summer. Moreover, the wallet will operate as a self-custodial solution, allowing users to control their own digital assets.

The announcement follows the recent rebranding of Toncoin to GRAM. Additionally, Telegram assumed a larger leadership role within the ecosystem after replacing the TON Foundation as its primary steward and largest validator.

Crypto Strategy Continues to Evolve

Telegram already offers Wallet in Telegram, which has attracted more than 150 million registered users. However, the upcoming Gram wallet signals a broader strategy to integrate blockchain services directly into everyday messaging.

Significantly, Telegram hopes its massive user base will accelerate wider cryptocurrency adoption. The company also continues rebuilding its blockchain ambitions after regulatory challenges forced it to abandon its original token project several years ago.
