UAE Fast-Tracks Second Oil Pipeline to Bypass Strait of Hormuz by 2027

The United Arab Emirates is advancing plans to strengthen its export network by developing a major port in Fujairah. The project reflects growing concerns over repeated disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global shipping route. Officials want stronger logistics, improved energy security, and greater trade resilience.

Consequently, the strategy also reduces pressure on Dubai’s Jebel Ali port while creating alternative export channels along the Gulf of Oman. The wider infrastructure push highlights the UAE’s long-term effort to protect trade against regional instability.

Fujairah Takes Center Stage

DP World will lead the Fujairah expansion alongside upgrades at Dibba and Khor Fakkan. Additionally, the new facilities could support larger cargo volumes and improve oil export capacity.

Regional tensions have repeatedly disrupted maritime traffic, encouraging Gulf states to diversify shipping routes. Hence, stronger infrastructure outside the Strait could improve supply chain reliability and attract additional international trade.

Regional Trade Plans Continue to Evolve

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu previously promoted westbound energy pipelines linking Gulf producers with Mediterranean markets. Moreover, the proposal aligns with broader regional connectivity discussions surrounding the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor.

However, Saudi Arabia reportedly favors alternative routes that avoid Israel. Meanwhile, regional analysts believe future infrastructure decisions will depend on diplomatic progress, commercial interests, and long-term geopolitical stability across the Middle East.
