Aviva Investors has launched a tokenized share class for its £22 billion Sterling Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), expanding its blockchain strategy. The move strengthens the asset manager’s presence in Europe’s tokenized money market fund sector. It also highlights growing institutional interest in blockchain-based investment products.

Aviva Deepens Its Tokenized Fund Strategy

Aviva invested £50 million ($66 million) in the new share class, which targets low-risk returns and daily liquidity. Consequently, the firm now offers tokenized versions of its sterling and US dollar liquidity funds.

Additionally, Aviva Investors has more than £86 million ($116 million) invested across both tokenized offerings. The sterling fund provides exposure to high-quality, short-term UK debt instruments.

However, investors retain the conventional fund’s investment objectives, risk profile, liquidity features, and regulatory protections. The structure links digital ownership records to the existing fund rather than replacing its traditional framework.

XRP Ledger Supports Institutional Adoption

Ripple supports the launch alongside digital asset custodian Komainu and infrastructure provider Licuido. Meanwhile, BNY Mellon serves as the fund’s custodian, safeguarding its underlying assets.

Significantly, XRPL enables fast, low-cost transactions while helping institutions manage tokenized investments. The network has processed more than four billion transactions since 2012.
