Altcoin Daily shares the screenshot from an article titled “Meet the twenty most influential people in crypto,” where a list of personalities has been published in a finance magazine claiming to be the top faces in crypto.
Altcoin Daily responds to this article, stating:
Most influential people in crypto??? I follow crypto everyday, who are these people?
The personalities include Usman Ahmad, CEO of Zodia Markets; Diana Biggs, partner at 1kx; Ambre Soubiran, Ceo at Kaiko; Steven Ashley, President of Nomura Digital Assets; David Rutter, founder and Ceo of R3; Philip Hammond, Former Chancellor of the Exchequer; Sendi Young, Board Director at Ripple.
A look into their Twitter handles or LinkedIn profiles will show follower counts that are low when compared to the celebrity faces in the crypto industry, like Satoshi Nakamoto, Vitalik Buterin, Brian Armstrong, or Elon Musk.
The tweet is met with similar sentiments where tweeple discredit these faces as the top ones in the crypto industry. Some say the article itself may be bogus or written by someone under a fake name. Tweetizens even go to the point of responding that the individuals might have paid their way into the list.
A quick look into the article shows that the list comes at an inflection point for the crypto industry, denoting the crypto winter last year that led to some high-profile collapses and lay-offs. The author of the list, moreover, goes on to claim that the executives on it are confident the crypto industry can turn things around as institutional adoption of crypto grows and regulations are put into place.
