While the world population reached the benchmark of eight billion, Changpeng Zhao, the CEO of Binance, believes that in a few years over eight billion people will be using crypto. Zhao shared this in a recent post on Twitter.
The crypto community, just in minutes, exploded to give their two cents on Zhao’s opinion. Some users were in agreement with Zhao, stating that it could be achieved citing the growing adoption of crypto. A Twitter user under the name Rawoof_LJ stated: “I’m paying attention to this man @cz_binance! What we struggle with today is going to be an amazing achievement in the near future.”
Another user, who goes by the name Dabarky noted “While it sounds a bit optimistic I do believe crypto has a lot to offer humanity. I support your efforts to assist the unbanked and under-represented.”
On the contrary, a majority of users believe that it would not be possible, owing to the Terra Luna and FTX crash. Several people who once believed in crypto are now shying away from it. Some users did not hesitate from saying that achieving this milestone is impossible. While one Twitter user quoted “In your dreams,” another account said:
The gullible will give themselves false hope with a statement like this too bad!
8 billion people won’t use crypto, blockchain will remain useful going forward, crypto will be re-ordered but not this your worthless crypto that is sending young and old people to premature graves.
Subsequently, there is no consensus regarding how much of the world’s population holds cryptocurrency, with estimates varying. Research by the blockchain firm TripleA states that crypto ownership is estimated at around 4.2% by 2022, with over 320 million users worldwide.
