CZ Dismisses Speculation After Burning Popular BSC Meme Tokens

CZ Says BSC Meme Token Burns Were a Wallet Cleanup, Not an Endorsement

Binance Founder CZ Explains Why He Sent BNB Chain Meme Tokens to a Burn Address
  • CZ said sending BNB Chain meme tokens to a burn address was a way to clean up a wallet.
  • He rejected community speculation that the burns were intended as a symbolic message.
  • The clarification follows CZ’s recent denial of any ownership of TCC, CZ, and AB tokens.

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) has responded to community speculation after several popular BNB Chain meme tokens were transferred from his wallet to a burn address. He said the move had no deeper meaning and was simply a way to manage an overcrowded wallet.

The transfers sparked widespread discussion across the crypto community, with some users interpreting the burns as a deliberate message to the BNB Chain meme coin ecosystem.

CZ dismissed those theories, explaining that the decision was driven by practicality rather than symbolism.

CZ Says Wallet Had Become Difficult to Manage

Responding to comments from Web3 builder Crypto Xiaoyu on X, CZ said he had not checked the wallet for a long time. When he eventually opened it, he found it contained tens of thousands of tokens, making it difficult to navigate because of the wallet interface.

According to CZ, he first suggested improvements to the software and later tested a simpler approach by sending unwanted tokens directly to a burn address.

He said transferring the assets to his own wallet first would have created an unnecessary extra step, making a direct transfer to the burn address the more efficient option.

His comments came after Crypto Xiaoyu described the token burns as a gesture of support for the BNB Chain community and praised CZ’s continued engagement with users despite stepping down as Binance CEO.

CZ replied that the explanation was much simpler than many community members had assumed.

Recent Clarifications on Meme Coin Associations

The latest explanation follows another clarification from Zhao last week regarding BNB Chain meme tokens.

At the time, CZ publicly stated that he neither owned nor had any involvement with the BNB Chain-based meme coins TCC, CZ, and AB after speculation spread that he could eventually endorse the projects.

The rumors gained momentum after increased attention surrounding the Solana-based memecoin ANSEM, prompting some traders to expect Zhao to acknowledge similar projects on BNB Chain.

Instead, Zhao rejected those assumptions, distancing himself from the tokens. The statement was followed by price declines across TCC, CZ, and AB, indicating how strongly meme coin valuations can react to comments from high-profile figures.

Community Watches BSC Meme Token Activity

Meanwhile, according to blockchain monitoring shared by analyst @ai_9684xtpa, one trader bought the memecoin CZ at an average price of about $0.03048 near a local rebound high, spending roughly $189,000.

Within about 14 hours, the position had fallen around 34.9%, leaving the wallet with an unrealized loss of approximately $66,000. Despite the decline, the address had not sold its holdings.
