UAE’s largest free-trade crypto center, Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), declared 2022 as the “best-ever” year, as the company showed a year-on-year increase of 23% in attracting more businesses to Dubai.
DMCC tweeted that the significant increase in the membership “highlights DMCC’s continued efforts within the blockchain, web3, and key commodities sector.”
Notably, the previous year, DMCC registered almost 2,485 members, while this year, the crypto center registered about 3,049 new businesses that showed interest in expanding their offices in the free zone.
The Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC, Ahmed Sultan Bin Sulayem, said that the “unprecedented performance” of the year shows the growth acceleration of the DMCC:
Backed by a strong regional macroeconomic landscape, DMCC has been efficiently accelerating its growth strategy throughout 2022, focusing on supporting its member companies in high-impact sectors such as web3 and blockchain technologies, commodities, and global trade.
Bin Sulayem added that the member company registrations are “a barometer for commercial and FDI activity in Dubai.” In addition, he said that the huge increase in the number of registrations is evidence of the investors’ confidence in the emirate.
Significantly, DMCC grew rapidly in 2022 as blockchain, and web3 technologies increasingly contribute to all sectors. Currently, DMCC represents the largest concentration of crypto as well as blockchain companies in the region.
Feryal Ahmadi, the Chief Operating Officer of DMCC, commented that increasing the annual company registrations by 23% sets a new baseline for DMCC. Ahmadi added:
With a number of exciting new projects in the pipeline and the unwavering dedication of the entire DMCC team, I am confident that we can carry this momentum forward into 2023.
Further, Ahmedi assured that DMCC would strengthen its position in the next year by enhancing its services and forging new partnerships across the world.
