Sen. Elizabeth Warren called on the Senate to delay the Digital Asset Market CLARITY Act, saying lawmakers should first address concerns over corruption, consumer protection, national security and risks to the broader economy.

Speaking to Forbes on Wednesday, Warren said the bill should not advance before the August recess because it still lacks key safeguards.

“As far as I’ve heard, they’ve still not solved the problem of corruption, of consumer protection, of national security, or protecting our economy,” Warren said. “Until you solve those problems, I just don’t see how anyone, Democrat or Republican, moves forward on this bill.”

Senate Talks Continue

Senate Majority Leader John Thune postponed procedural action on the bill to give bipartisan negotiations more time. Lawmakers continue to work through disagreements over ethics rules and consumer protections.

Political Pressure Builds

Warren also earlier renewed criticism of President Donald Trump’s cryptocurrency interests, saying they raise potential conflicts of interest and calling for stronger transparency and enforcement measures.

Separately, prediction market Polymarket lowered the odds of the bill becoming law in 2026 to about 15%, reflecting growing uncertainty over its prospects.
