Elon Musk made an appearance at the 10th annual Breakthrough Prize Ceremony, held at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. Often referred to as the “Oscars of Science,” the event brought together luminaries from both the scientific and Hollywood communities.

During his brief walk on the red carpet, Musk was asked about the greatest breakthrough he hoped to witness in his lifetime. He mentioned two key areas: the colonization of other planets to make life multi-planetary and the continued advancement of artificial intelligence (AI).

While expressing concerns about the potential dangers of AI, Musk also reiterated his belief that AI could surpass human intelligence by the end of the following year. He emphasized the importance of training AI to prioritize truthfulness, even if unpopular, to ensure its beneficial impact on humanity.

Drawing parallels with historical figures like Galileo, Musk stressed the significance of AI possessing both knowledge of the truth and the ability to communicate it, regardless of prevailing beliefs.

In a lighter moment with Variety, Musk jokingly entertained the idea of an AI president by 2032 when asked about the outcome of the upcoming U.S. presidential election.

The event featured notable presenters such as Robert Downey Jr., Kim Kardashian, and Brie Larson, among others. The Breakthrough Prize board includes figures like Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and 23andMe Founder Anna Wojcicki, highlighting the intersection of science, technology, and entertainment at the ceremony.Notably, Musk has always been a supporter of cryptocurrencies and has advocated for the adoption of Dogecoin (DOGE) on multiple occasions. He is also popularly known as “DogeFather” for his support of the meme coin.
