  • HYPE eyes $90-$95 after breaking resistance, but $86.55 remains the key test ahead.
  • Strong ADX and rising open interest reinforce momentum, while leverage raises risks.
  • 9.92M HYPE unlock on September 6 could trigger selling and pressure the rally.

Hyperliquid enters September with bullish momentum as HYPE trades near $83.13 after breaking decisively above its previous range. The rally has pushed the token toward its $86.55 swing high, creating an important test for the market. A successful breakout could extend the advance toward $90 and potentially $95. However, traders face several risks that could disrupt the bullish setup.

Bullish Structure Faces Key Test

HYPE continues to trade well above its major daily moving averages. The 20-day EMA stands at $75.08, while the 50-day EMA sits at $67.76. The 100-day and 200-day EMAs remain lower at $62.45 and $53.89.

Additionally, the ADX has climbed to 50.26, confirming a strong directional trend. The +DI reading of 26.11 also remains well above -DI at 6.37.

Significantly, this setup suggests buyers still control the broader trend. However, HYPE now faces resistance around $86.55.

A daily close above that level could attract fresh momentum traders. Consequently, the price could move toward the $90-$95 region.

Derivatives Activity Adds Momentum

Hyperliquid’s open interest has expanded considerably during the broader HYPE rally. OI climbed from roughly $1.5 billion in late 2025 to about $3.45 billion by September.

The strongest expansion came between May and June. During that period, open interest crossed $3 billion alongside HYPE’s price surge.

Although OI declined several times during July and August, it remained elevated. Recently, OI recovered toward $3.5 billion as HYPE approached $84.

Moreover, higher OI can strengthen rallies when buyers dominate. However, excessive leverage can amplify losses during abrupt reversals.

Spot Flows and US Expansion

Spot market flows have also improved after heavy selling in late May and early June. Net outflows approached $70 million during that period.

However, buying pressure strengthened throughout June and July. August then produced several significant positive inflow spikes.

By September 1, netflow remained positive near $1.48 million. This improvement suggests stronger accumulation and healthier market participation.

US Expansion Could Add a New Catalyst

Besides technical strength, Hyperliquid faces an important fundamental development. The platform is reportedly discussing a potential arrangement with Payward.

Payward, Kraken’s parent company, could provide a pathway into the US market. Such an arrangement could significantly expand Hyperliquid’s reach.

Additionally, greater US access could increase liquidity and attract new traders. However, regulatory requirements could determine how quickly any expansion progresses.

The September 6 HYPE unlock also deserves attention. Nearly 9.92 million tokens will enter circulation, potentially creating short-term selling pressure.

Technical Outlook For Hyperliquid Price

Key levels remain well-defined heading into September:

Upside levels: $86.55 is the immediate hurdle, followed by $90 and $95. A decisive breakout above $86.55 could strengthen bullish momentum and push HYPE toward the $95 target.

Downside levels: $78.98 provides immediate support, followed by $75.08 and $73.03. The $68.85-$67.76 zone represents deeper structural support.

The technical picture remains bullish, with HYPE trading comfortably above its major daily EMAs. However, the $86.55 resistance could determine whether the current rally enters another expansion phase. Strong open interest and improving spot inflows provide additional support for the bullish case. However, elevated leverage also increases liquidation risks during sudden pullbacks.

Will Hyperliquid Go Up?

Hyperliquid’s September outlook depends heavily on whether buyers can clear $86.55 and defend $78.98 during any correction. If buying pressure strengthens, HYPE could break higher toward $90 and potentially $95. The upcoming 9.92 million token unlock could introduce additional volatility on September 6.

Failure to hold $78.98, however, could trigger a retracement toward $75.08 and $73.03. For now, HYPE remains in a bullish zone. The combination of strong technical momentum, rising derivatives activity, positive spot flows, and potential US expansion keeps the broader outlook constructive.
